My Name is Jodie Topich. I'm from Mason, Ohio. From a young age, I always was interested in the engineering field. Yet not many people have accepted my love for stem. Growing up in the largest school district in Ohio, you would think that they would support women in engineering but there were little to no resources. I was also looked down upon for being one of the only females in my advanced-level math and science classes.  Finding my people in high school was a struggle but once I found a tight-knit group of girls, the sense of community allowed me to blossom into the person I am today. Through being the president of my high school's Women in Stem Club, I always encourage other females to embrace their love for the STEM field. Including serving on the Board of Directors for Girl Scouts of Western Ohio, to create agendas and marketing plans to get the STEM field introduced to girls at a young age, something I wasn't able to have. This passion has manifested itself in many different ways over the course of my life, but most recently it has led me to a degree in the engineering field. I am a mechanical engineering major in the College of Engineering and Applied Science I hope this education will provide the resources to enable me to play a leading role in the development of consumer product packaging.  The consumer packaging industry can be responsible for a significant impact on the environment and consumer behavior-- both positive and negative. It is my hope as I enter my first year that through my University of Cincinnati education, as well as my campus involvements, I will gain the skills and insight necessary to design consumer packaging with consumer behavior of customers in mind and make a positive difference.
